Just minutes from the center of Turin lies a green and peaceful world: the Turin hillside, a treasure trove of nature and history, welcomes you with its ancient woods and breathtaking views. This exclusive tour takes you into the heart of this unspoiled landscape, culminating in a visit to the Basilica of Superga, a symbol of devotion, beauty, and memory.
After a short drive, we’ll reach the historic Sassi Station, the departure point of a true 19th-century engineering masterpiece: the Sassi–Superga cogwheel railway, operating since 1884. Still today, this charming and eco-friendly transport slowly climbs the 3 kilometers through lush forests, meadows, and silence, offering a journey through time with zero emissions. Its original wooden carriages from the 1930s offer a poetic and sustainable experience, where every curve reveals a new perspective on the city and nature.
As we ascend, Turin transforms into a distant mosaic: the green of its parks, the silver of the Po River, red rooftops, and the Alps embracing the horizon create a living painting in motion.
At the top of the Superga hill, 672 meters above sea level, one of the most spectacular views in Piedmont awaits. Here stands the magnificent Basilica commissioned by Vittorio Amedeo II as a votive offering for the liberation of Turin from the siege of 1706. Designed by Filippo Juvarra, it is now a spiritual and cultural icon of the city. Inside, precious marbles and frescoes decorate a solemn space where the Royal Tombs of the House of Savoy tell centuries of Italian history.
The tour continues with the climb to the panoramic dome, a true terrace suspended between sky and earth. From here, your gaze embraces all of Piedmont: from the rice fields of Vercelli to the Alpine glaciers, passing through the Monferrato hills and the majestic Alpine arc.
An itinerary that combines sustainable travel, royal heritage, popular devotion, and untouched nature. Because Superga is not just a destination — it is an experience for the soul, a window open onto the landscape and time.
